With national accolades that include Top 40 Under 40 and Top 10 Trial Attorney honors, Mathew brings extensive experience in complex, high-stakes matters across family law and criminal defense. His background also includes serving as outside General Counsel to the nation’s largest NFL agency, where he negotiated contracts for elite coaches and executives—an experience that sharpened his skills in negotiation, strategy, and high-pressure decision-making.

Rebecca Carlson is a co-founder and name partner at Carlson & Work and a formidable force in family law. Known for her sharp litigation skills, strategic negotiation, and deeply client-centered approach, Rebecca has earned a reputation as a trusted advocate for individuals and families navigating high-conflict and high-stakes family law matters.
Unlike attorneys who divide their focus, Rebecca dedicates her practice exclusively to family law. This singular concentration allows her to stay at the cutting edge of divorce, child custody, child support, and spousal support issues—delivering informed, decisive representation when it matters most. Her results-driven advocacy and courtroom confidence propelled her to name-partner status in under three years.

Kathleen Cooke Mangan brings a rare blend of legal tradition, academic excellence, and lived experience to her family law practice at Carlson & Work. Coming from a four-generation lineage of legal professionals, Kathleen approaches every case with both deep respect for the law and a modern, client-focused mindset.
Her path to family law is shaped by a lifelong commitment to education and advocacy. Before earning her law degree on a full scholarship from the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Kathleen distinguished herself as an educator—teaching in New York City through Teach for America and later returning home to continue shaping young minds. This foundation informs her thoughtful, grounded approach to complex legal issues.
CHRISTI DUPONT | FAMILY LAW ATTORNEY
Christi Dupont is an associate attorney at Carlson & Work who brings focus, compassion, and academic distinction to her family law practice. Dedicated exclusively to family, custody, and divorce matters, Christi is known for her thoughtful advocacy and strong courtroom presence.
A summa cum laude graduate of Arizona State University, Christi went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the William S. Boyd School of Law with highest pro bono honors. During law school, she distinguished herself through leadership roles with the Nevada Law Journal, the Board of Indigent Defense, and multiple student organizations—while also earning the CALI Excellence for the Future Award.
Christi began her legal career at an AV-rated boutique law firm, gaining hands-on experience in both litigation and transactional family law matters. Her work emphasized oral advocacy, legal writing, and client-centered problem solving—skills she now applies daily to help families navigate emotionally complex legal challenges.
NICHOLE VALDEZ | SENIOR PARALEGAL
Nichole Valdez brings more than two decades of hands-on legal experience to her role as a senior family law paralegal at Carlson & Work. Her legal career began at just 18 years old at a boutique family law firm in Bakersfield, California, where her curiosity, work ethic, and commitment to excellence quickly set her apart.
Over the past 20+ years, Nichole has built a remarkably well-rounded legal background, with experience spanning family law, estate planning, probate, real estate, business law, and civil litigation. While her career has evolved across multiple practice areas, family law remains at the heart of her work—where her knowledge, precision, and client support skills shine brightest.
Nichole continues to push her professional boundaries and invest in her future. She is currently pursuing her Juris Doctorate at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, bringing even deeper insight and legal perspective to the clients and attorneys she supports every day.
JARED C. CLARK | OF COUNSEL
Jared Clark serves as Of Counsel to Carlson & Work, bringing a strong academic foundation and a global perspective to the firm’s legal practice. He earned his Juris Doctor cum laude from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego and holds a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Professional Biology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
While in law school, Jared expanded his legal education internationally through advanced studies at the Faculté de Droit de l’Université de Nice in France. This experience sharpened his analytical approach and broadened his understanding of legal systems beyond U.S. borders—an asset in complex and nuanced legal matters.
Jared’s multidisciplinary background and international exposure contribute valuable insight to the firm’s work, supporting thoughtful strategy and well-rounded legal analysis.
KELLIE WESTBROOK | LEGAL ASSISTANT
Kellie Westbrook is the Office Manager at Carlson & Work and the operational backbone of the firm. She plays a central role in keeping daily operations running smoothly while ensuring every client experience is professional, efficient, and welcoming.
With more than a decade of experience in high-level customer service, Kellie brings exceptional communication skills, problem-solving ability, and steady leadership to a fast-paced legal environment. Known for her calm under pressure and meticulous attention to detail, she expertly coordinates attorneys, staff, and systems—often juggling countless moving parts with ease.
Kellie’s leadership style blends structure with empathy. Whether improving workflows behind the scenes or supporting clients during stressful moments, she helps create a firm culture built on trust, care, and consistency.
LEXXI HALL | LAW CLERK
Lexxi Hall is a law clerk at Carlson & Work and a third-year law student at Willamette University College of Law. She brings both academic rigor and real-world family law experience to her role, having spent more than three years working as a paralegal at a boutique family law firm prior to law school.
Lexxi earned dual degrees in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Nevada, with a concentration in ethics, law, and politics—an academic foundation that informs her thoughtful and principled approach to legal work. At Willamette, she is deeply engaged in leadership and advocacy, serving as President of the Women’s Law Caucus and Student Advocates Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, and as Vice President of the Family and Child Advocacy Association.
MIRA JOHNSON | LEGAL ASSISTANT
Mira Johnson is a legal assistant and paralegal at Carlson & Work who brings dedication, empathy, and a strong foundation in family law to every client interaction. With more than three years of experience, she plays a vital role in supporting attorneys and guiding clients through emotionally challenging moments with care and clarity.
Coming from a family of lawyers, Mira has a deep-rooted understanding of the legal process and a genuine commitment to justice. She earned her Paralegal Studies Certificate from the University of Nevada, Reno Extended Studies and is currently pursuing an Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies. Mira is also preparing for the Certified Paralegal Exam through NALA, reflecting her commitment to continuous professional growth.
