Calyx King

Calyx came to Carlson & Work with a strong sense of why this work matters. 

Prior to her time at Carlson & Work, Calyx worked at the San Diego Public Defender’s office where she learned about subpoenas, conducting interviews, and obtaining records. As an intern, she had the opportunity to sit in on preliminary hearings and trials alongside public attorneys.

The commonality in everything she does isn’t a practice area or a skill set. It’s engaging with people. Specifically, people who need someone on their side to help them when they need it. Nowhere is that more clear than her work with the Ben Free Project, where she spent over a year assisting wrongfully convicted individuals with their case for innocence. She’s been building her legal career with intentionality ever since. 

Some of her major accomplishments include being selected for the Mundt Peace Fellowship by Dr. Hank Johnston, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and earning her Public Law Certificate. Not to brag, but she’s also made the Dean’s List every semester in her pre-law studies. 

At Carlson & Work, Calyx supports attorneys with case management, document preparation, court filings, and trial preparation. She works in the background keeping cases organized, calendars on track, and communicating with clients. It’s her effort that keeps cases running smoothly. For someone relatively new to family law, she moves through a fast-paced legal environment with a calmness and confidence.
